The Public Authority for Consumer Protection, in cooperation with the Saud Bahwan Group, has launched a recall campaign for 110 Lexus (LS500) vehicles which was produced during the period from 27/7/2017 to 11/9/2018, depending on the chassis numbers from JTHB5LFFXJ5003823 to JTHB51FF1J5001916.

The recall comes with the fact that the vehicles are equipped with a double turbo V6 engine and a stop and start system that automatically stops and restarts the engine when the vehicle is in a steady state to reduce fuel consumption and reduce emissions. Therefore, faulty programming of the engine control computer may result in the calculation of an improper amount of air pulled when the engine is restarted within a specified period of time after stopping, thus stopping it during acceleration from the stability position. The company will therefore replace the engine timing belt.

These recalls underscore the efforts of the PACP in the field of traffic safety in cooperation with the automotive agencies to preserve the lives and safety of consumers and to provide the necessary protection for consumers, in line with its ongoing keenness to carry out continuous reviews of all products offered in the Sultanate's markets.
