The Consumer Protection Authority, in cooperation with Zawawi Trading Company, launched a recall campaign for (16) Mercedes-Benz C-class vehicles (205 platforms), G-class (463 platforms), and AMG GT-Class (190 platforms) model-years 2015/2018. Two vehicles G500 (4X42) class were recalled according to the chassis numbers (WDC4632341X264092) and (WDC4632341X271569), 7 AMG GT S vehicles were also recalled, according to the chassis numbers from (WDD1903781A001334) to (WDD1903781A012637), 6 vehicles (AMG C 63 S),according to the chassis numbers from (WDD2050871F192683) to (WDD2053871F454662), in addition to recalling one vehicle class (AMG GT) according to the chassis number (WDD1903771A012529).


The recall was due to the failure of the electronic engine control unit programming to the specified specifications. If the engine stops for more than 67 hours, the catalyst is not heated to slow down the car during the start of the engine as required when operating the car. Accordingly, the company will update the control unit programming in engine in affected vehicles.

 

These recalls confirm the efforts made by the authority in the field of traffic safety in cooperation with agencies operating in the field, and in line with its continuous keenness to conduct continuous reviews of all products offered in the Sultanate’s markets with the aim of providing the necessary protection for consumers in all fields.
