These recalls came due to some Mercedes Benz vehicles of category E platform (211) and category CLS platform (219) with an engine working by gasoline having the venting line material specialized for the fuel tank for early obsolescence which may cause cracks. In case it happens in the venting line specialized for the fuel tank, gasoline fumes will be emitted in the environment which may have a clear fuel smell during refilling the fuel or when the car is parked in the parking lot. When refilling the fuels, the gasoline fumes may cause a static charge in the venting line

For the fuel tank in some surrounding conditions like very high temperature level or the air humidity is low in the surrounding atmosphere. In these cases, the gasoline fumes ignition cannot be avoided due to the static discharge.

In addition to that, in case a crash happens, the fuel might leak out of the damaged venting line for the fuel tank according to the level of fuel filled in the tank and the crash scenario. Therefore, the company will replace the venting line for the fuel tank in the affected vehicles.

These recalls ensure the efforts that the authority is doing in traffic safety in cooperation with the vehicles agencies to maintain the consumers’ souls and safety and provide the necessary protection in accordance with its continuous concerns to do continuous revisions for all the products presented in the Sultanate’s markets.
