The Consumer Protection Authority, in cooperation with Zawawi Trading Company, launched a recall for 424 Mercedes-Benz C-Class GLK and SLK cars, model-years from 2006 to 2018

The campaign included recalling 327 C-CLASS vehicles (platform 204) model years 2010 to 2014 according to chassis numbers from (WDD2040311A749533) to (WDD2040771A888206) and 73 GLK-CLASS vehicles (platform X204) model years 2013 to 2015 according to chassis numbers from (WDC2049371G271691) to (WDC2049881G352213). In addition, 9 GLK-CLASS vehicles (platform X204) model years 2013 to 2015 according to chassis numbers from (WDC2049881G371208) to (WDC2049881G415750), and 15 SLK-CLASS vehicles (platform X204) model years 2006 to 2018 according to Chassis numbers from (WDB1714421F137402) to (WDB1714541F177063). This is due to a defect in the components of the driver's airbags (TAKATA) that may lead to the rupture of the airbag, and thus the loss of its function of restricting movement and the flying of metal shrapnel into the passenger compartment, which presents a danger to them. Accordingly, the company will replace the airbag units in the damaged vehicles.

These recalls confirm the efforts made by the authority in the field of traffic safety in cooperation with car dealers, to preserve the lives and safety of consumers, provide them with the necessary protection, and in line with its continuous keenness to conduct continuous reviews of all products offered in the Sultanate’s markets.
